Topical formulation development has been Dow’s focus for 32 years. Each year Dow develops new prescription formulations for about 25 clients. During 2005-07, the FDA approved 23 topical product NDAs and 9 were formulated at Dow.

Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences provides a full range of product development services, for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, including formulation development, formulation optimization utilizing state-of-the-art in vitro permeation models, full analytical support, cGMP clinical manufacturing and clinical labeling. Dow conducts dermatology studies at clinical sites in California, and in Europe through its bioskin® Division, a full service dermatology CRO.
